Winona

My Alaskan adventure began with a day trip to photograph landscapes and bears. A 90-minute flight via seaplane from Anchorage took us to Redoubt Mountain Resort, nestled by the secluded Crescent Lake in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The flight, offering views of glaciers and volcanoes, was stunning. The landing on Crescent Lake's turquoise waters was nothing short of spectacular. Following a brief orientation, we boarded a pontoon boat with a local guide who navigated us to remote areas of the nine-mile-long lake, seeking bears feasting on sockeye salmon. Witnessing them in their natural environment and capturing these moments digitally was exhilarating. We observed mother bears with cubs during tender moments and while fishing, as well as bears clashing over their spoils. In total, we spotted 24 bears and a juvenile eagle along the shore—a record-breaking sight for our guide and a fortunate day for us!
