Pia Glacier

It was a foggy morning when we arrived at Pia Glacier, Tierra del Fuego, along the Chilean Patagonia coast. The low-lying fog acted like a veil, partially concealing parts of the mountain at the glacier. Pia Glacier is impressively large, cascading down from the mountains into the sea in a secluded corner of the Chilean Fjords, making it one of the highlights of 'Glacier Alley'. If you spend enough time along the shore, you're likely to hear the creaking and groaning as the ice shifts. With luck, you may witness the dramatic splash as ice calves from the frozen wall and crashes into the water, creating an awe-inspiring sight.
